Well, the story on Kara’s foot infection continued this week…..
Monday was the recheck on the infection, and the doctor was still quite concerned, although I thought Kara was doing much better. As the swelling from the infection went down, the incision area opened up, and that was my biggest concern–how to care for that and keep it clean. Anyway, the doctor was more concerned about the redness around the bottom of her foot. He was worried that it was a sign of osteomyelitis, which is infection of the bone. He said that if his suspicions were correct, Kara would need to be hospitalized for IV antibiotic treatment, and probably transferred to Denver. He also said that the IV treatment has to be done long-term. Wow–what hard news! I was not happy to hear this. Kara hates doctors, hospitals, etc., because of her previous experiences, so I knew this would be a big battle. Also, I knew this would be difficult for the rest of my family since I haven’t been home with Kara from china for very long. The doctor wanted to see Kara again on Wednesday. He gave her yet another shot to try to get her foot to heal, and said that if she did not show significant improvement by Wednesday, the hospital was the next step.
We immediately put prayer into action. And, I am glad to say that God answered so graciously! When I took Kara back to the doctor yesterday, her foot was much better, and the x-rays also showed no evidence of bone infection, so we did not have to take Kara to the hospital! I was so grateful for that full answer to prayer–what a relief!
Kara is blossoming in our family, and it becomes clearer every day that God truly chose her for us. It has been a journey full of twists and turns, but it has definitely followed God’s plan. I can’t wait to see how God continues to work in Kara’s life!

Lois, Our prayers are with you all and for Kara’s foot to heal quickly. It’s sounds like a rough road, but have faith it will turn out well. Kara is soooo cute! I am so happy things have turned out well for you with her. She sounds delightful! We are still waiting to hear when we will travel.
