The kids are really enjoying the Jesse Tree, and look forward each night to see who can guess what the symbol means and whose turn it is to hang the ornament. This has been a great activity, and I plan to continue it as a Prairie Family tradition in the years to come! (In case you missed my original post about the Jesse Tree, it is at http://colbylobrien.wordpress.com/2007/12/01/2007-jesse-tree-ornaments-2/ .)
I was thinking, though, that it may be beneficial to have a couple of different sets of ornaments to alternate between just for variety’s sake. I found a different type of ornament that I am going to consider at http://www.homeword.ws/Christmas.asp . These ornaments aren’t necessarily “Jesse Tree” ornaments because they do not symbolize Jesus’ earthly ancestory. Instead, they focus on the gifts that Jesus brings us and on His Glorious Names. These would be great–maybe even for an Easter version of a Jesse Tree. Hmm…..I’ll have to give that some thought!

Someone linked to this post from a post I wrote on my Jesse Tree. Thanks for the link to the sight with different ornaments. I may add these next year… not because I need variety. My kids fought over whose turn it was to hang the ornaments.
