My painting is continuing to progress. Lord willing, I should be able to finish downstairs either tomorrow or Monday. Next I plan to do the living room and the adjoining room upstairs where we have our computer. I have dreaded these rooms because it means that I will also have to paint our stairwell. Our stairwell is pretty typical, and it has very high walls. Dan and I have tried to figure out how to paint that thing for years, but this weekend we finally decided that we needed to buy an appropriate ladder.
So, our search began. We measured and figured and did internet searches. We finally settled on the 17-foot Cosco World’s Greatest Ladder sold on Walmart.com at http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=8198588 . We saw on that page that it supposedly isn’t sold in Wal-Mart stores, so we decided to order it and use the free site-to-store shipping. It’s current price is $117.88.
This afternoon after I had ordered the ladder, I went on my usual weekly shopping trip to Wal-Mart and decided to just check out the ladders that they had in stock. Lo and behold, they had this VERY SAME LADDER! But get this: the price on the ladder in the store was $132!!! So, I guess that we saved $14.12 by ordering it online and waiting a few days to pick it up at the store that has one in stock for $132!
I had no idea that there could be such price differences online versus at the store. I guess it’s a good lesson. From now on, when we are looking at a large purchase, I will compare prices. Fortunately, this one worked out in our favor.
I sure hope that this ladder works for the stairwell. I told Dan that when it comes, we’ll have to set it up and see if we can reach what we need to reach. If not, I guess we can always return it.
