In earlier entries, I have written about our exterior painting project that grew into other things. As we were getting ready to paint, one area that needed attention was our rickety old garage doors.
These old doors were original to the house. The insides were really torn up because a previous owner had locked dogs in the garage that scratched and tore up the insulation on them. In fact, several squares of the insulation were completely missing. That is what led to other issues…. Usually the Prairie where we live is pretty dry. This spring and early summer, though, it rained, and rained, and rained. That rain caused water damage on the garage doors, especially where the insulation was gone. So, we were faced with a complicated, time-consuming repair job on old, rickety doors with dangerous springs, or spending the money to replace them. We decided on the latter, and we are glad that we did.
Our new doors were installed yesterday, and they are soooo nice! They look nice on the outside, but the inside is so wonderful compared to what we have always had! We got a pretty good deal on the new doors, and the dealer got them in quickly to enable us to get an additional amount off in rebate before it expired.
So, here are pictures. This first picture is of our old, beat-up doors:
And here is our new, improved version:
Our next major improvement will be a couple of new windows. These were also needing replaced all along, but, again, the rain hastened some damage to the frames, so the job came quicker than we had planned. I know they will look nice, though, and am looking forward to having them installed.
Very nice! I need new garage doors!
The doors look great.
Sprucing up the house always makes me feel good. Especially, if someone else does the work!
