Brock completed his first major 7th Grade A Beka Academy project today, and I think he did a very good job! He was supposed to collect 10 leaves showing different venation, shape, arrangement, etc., and mount them in a book. This is a new science class–John had the older version of the class and did not have the leaf collection, so this was a first time around for the Prairie Family on this one.
We are fortunate that Dan works at an agricultural research site for projects like this. At his workplace, there are many trees planted as samples for our area and are all identified with signs. Some of the trees are rather rare for this part of the world and can only survive with the special care given to them for research, so it gives us a chance to include some examples that we probably would not find here otherwise.
Brock had a very good attitude about this project. Crafty things are really not Brock’s favorite activities in the world, but he has learned to do what he has to do to put together a nice project when he has to. I think he did enjoy looking at the trees and identifying different characteristics, and, overall, we will remember this as a good project. (Which is good considering we will have three more of them to make in the future with the younger kids!)

Great project, Brock! Yes, they are a lot of work and this shows that and diligence in getting it done. I’m anxious to see all of the notebook soon. I always enjoy each of the Bible Memory videos, too! Each one has done a remarkable job on those. Keep up the good work! Grandma K
