This past weekend my girls were able to attend an American Heritage Girls sleepover with a troop in a nearby town.  This is a relatively new troop and although it is too far away to officially join, it is close enough for us to participate with them for special events, so this has been a real blessing!

The sleepover had a princess theme based on the Veggie Tales movie Sweetpea Beauty.  The main emphasis was being beautiful inwardly by growing in Christ-likeness, and the whole party was just wonderful!  There were games, crafts, snacks, etc., but the best part of all was getting together with these great girls.  I can’t begin to tell you how refreshing they were to be with! All of the girls were so sweet and kind–an absolute joy to be with.  We are looking forward to joining them for many more things in the future!

It was neat to have special time with my girls–they are both growing to be beautiful princesses too!  🙂

Note:  John and Brock are on a different verse schedule this year, so sometimes they will have verse videos, and sometimes they won’t.  They are still learning lots of verses, though!  🙂

The girls and I have been very busy with American Heritage Girls this fall. We have been working on a couple of badges and a sports pin, so we definitely are not lacking for things to do!

We have especially been enjoying the Stickshifts and Safety Belts badge.  We have been learning a lot of things about vehicles, but I think the favorite activity so far has been learning to clean the windows using a squeegie.  I had them do it the old fashioned way with a towel a few weeks ago, so when I splurged and got them a squeegie, they thought it was quite a treat!  Now they say they are ready to clean more windows……I think I should take them up on that!

We are almost finished with the Computer Fun badge.  Kara sure has had fun learning how to draw pictures on the computer and use Microsoft Word to print things.  Changing colors, fonts, sizes, etc. is quite a game for her!

The bowling sports pin has been quite educational for me as well as for the girls.  One of the most interesting things we studied for that pin was the different modern games of bowling and how they differ from what is normally played around here.  (regular ten-pin bowling)  I think the five-pin game sounds fun because each of the pins is worth a different amount of points which adds to the difficulty and strategy of the game.  Maybe we can try that sometime.

Last weekend the girls each got several service hours by collecting donations for our local food bank.  They have also been helping Dan with the Wolf Cub Scout pack, so we won’t have any problems getting enough of the hours in this year.

Next weekend we are planning on attending a special event with an AHG troop in a nearby town.  This should be interesting–the girls have never been around other American Heritage Girls, so it will be neat for them.  I know what’s going to happen:  they’re going to see how much fun a troop is and want one here! We’ll see……  Anyway, it’s going to be a sleepover with games, crafts, movies, etc., so it should be a good time.

Our Latest Fad

My girls LOVE–and I do mean LOVE–umbrellas, raincoats, etc.!  I really don’t know what started this, but it’s kind of a strange fad to have considering we just don’t have many rainy days on the Prairie!  🙂 Cosette especially has a fondness for raingear and always wants to check out the latest and cutest umbrella designs in the store.  Earlier this week the girls were delighted when it actually rained enough for them to enjoy their things.  It was pretty funny to see them just go out and stand in the middle of the rain, but they sure had fun!

Well, after much photo shooting, sorting, and editing, I think I am getting our family’s school pictures narrowed down.  I have been taking them myself for several years, and have discovered that if I take lots and lots of shots, a few will come out right!  🙂  Now comes the hard part:  getting the actual prints ordered!

Very, Very Blessed!

Very, Very Blessed!

Today I am just really thankful for my family.  Of course, it is not perfect because none of us is perfect!  But God is working in all of our lives, and I see it every day.  It is such a blessing to watch the kids learn to trust Him.  This week has been a difficult one–it seems like there are many people we know who are facing such hard situations.  So, I just want to pause and thank my precious Savior for all He has given me.  I am so rich, and it is certainly not deserved.
